About Carpools
Carpools make it easy to share rides with other MissionPeak users, whether or not you're headed to a Huddle. Coordinate pickup points, split costs, and cut down on the number of cars on the road.
What is a Carpool?
A Carpool is a shared ride organized on MissionPeak. Carpools come in two forms:
- Independent Carpools — created on their own, not tied to any event. Useful for a regular commute, a group heading to a trailhead, or any shared trip.
- Huddle Carpools — created as part of a Huddle. When a host enables carpooling for a Huddle, participants can offer or request rides to that specific event.
Both forms work the same way once created: drivers offer available seats, and riders request to join.
Key Features of Carpools
- Independent or event-based
- Start a Carpool on its own, or attach one to a Huddle you're hosting or attending.
- Driver & rider roles
- Offer a ride as a driver with your available seats, pickup point, and departure time.
- Request a seat as a rider from any open Carpool.
- Coordination details
- Share pickup/drop-off locations, timing, and notes with everyone in the Carpool.
- Cost sharing
- Drivers can note if they'd like riders to help cover gas or trip costs.
- Coordination via Messages
- Each Carpool has its own conversation for drivers and riders to work out pickup details. See About Messages.
Creating a Carpool
- Tap the "+" menu in the app.
- Select Carpool.
- Choose whether it's independent or linked to a Huddle you're organizing.
- Add your route, pickup point, departure time, and available seats.
- Publish so riders can find and request to join.
Joining a Carpool
- Find independent Carpools through Explore, or a Huddle's Carpool tab if one is enabled.
- Review the route, pickup point, and timing.
- Request a seat — the driver will confirm.
