About Messages

Messages let you talk directly with other MissionPeak users — to catch up with a Connection, coordinate a Huddle or Carpool, or join a topic-based discussion inside a Community.

What are Messages?

Messages are how MissionPeak users communicate with each other. They come in a few forms:

  1. Direct messages — a private, one-on-one conversation between you and another user, similar to any messaging app.
  2. Group messages — a conversation with multiple friends at once, for chatting as a group outside of any specific Huddle, Carpool, or Community.
  3. Carpool messages — a conversation tied to a specific Carpool, so the driver and riders can coordinate pickup points, timing, and other details.
  4. Huddle messages — a conversation tied to a specific Huddle, so participants can plan logistics, share updates, and coordinate before and during the event.
  5. Community messages — topic-based conversations within a Community, letting members discuss specific subjects rather than one continuous group chat.

Key Features of Messages

  3. Carpool messages

  4. Huddle messages

  5. Community messages
    • Communities can host multiple topic-based discussions, so members can find and join the conversations relevant to them. See About Communities.
  6. Notifications
    • Get notified about new messages, replies, and mentions.

Starting a Conversation

  • Direct message — go to a Connection's profile or your Messages tab and start a new conversation.
  • Group message — start a new conversation from your Messages tab and add friends to the group.
  • Carpool message — open the Carpool and go to its conversation to message drivers and riders.
  • Huddle message — open the Huddle and go to its conversation to message participants.
  • Community message — open a Community and pick an existing topic, or start a new one (if allowed by the Community's settings).

Why Messages?

Messages help you:

  • Stay in touch with the people you're connected to.
  • Coordinate the logistics of a Huddle or Carpool in one place.
  • Have focused, topic-based conversations within a Community instead of one big feed.
