About Records

Records are how MissionPeak captures what you actually did outdoors — a hike, a run, a ride — so it can show up on your Newsfeed, count toward a Challenge, or attach to a Huddle.

What is a Record?

A Record is the record of an activity you've recorded — a single session, like a hike or a run, with details such as distance, duration, and route. See About Activities for how activity types shape what gets recorded. Records can be created in two ways:

  1. Recorded in the app — start a recording directly in MissionPeak using your device's location sensors.
  2. Synced from a connected service — imported from Apple Health or Google Health Connect, or exported from MissionPeak to those services after you publish. See About Devices & Services.

However it's created, a Record can turn into an Activity Card — a Record shared to your Newsfeed with maps, stats, and photos.

Key Features of Records

  1. In-app recording
    • Start, pause, and finish a recording from the app, tracked live with GPS, to create a Record.
    • Attach an activity type (e.g. Hiking, Running) to capture type-specific stats.
  2. Synced Records
    • Activities recorded in Apple Health or Google Health Connect can sync in automatically as Records once connected.
    • Published MissionPeak activity records can be exported to Apple Health or Google Health Connect when connected.
  3. Sharing
    • Choose to share a Record as an Activity Card on your Newsfeed, with maps, stats, and photos.
  4. Feeds other features
    • Huddles — a Huddle's activity type can pull in relevant Record details, like trail info for a hike.
    • Challenges — Records, whether created in-app or synced, can count toward a Challenge's goal.

Creating a Record

  1. Tap Record from the home screen.
  2. Choose an activity type.
  3. Start, pause, and finish the recording as you go.
  4. Review your stats and choose whether to share it as an Activity Card.

Why Records?

Records help you:

  • Keep a personal history of what you've done outdoors.
  • Share your activities with the MissionPeak community.
  • Make progress toward Challenges automatically when Apple Health or Google Health Connect is connected.
