Glossary of Terms

Common terms you'll come across while using MissionPeak, defined in one place.

Account​

Your personal MissionPeak profile. A free account is required to join Huddles, participate in Communities, track activities, or publish Inspirations. See How to Permanently Delete Your Account for account management details.

Activity Card​

A Record — like a hike or run — shared to the Newsfeed with maps, stats, and photos. See About Records.

Activity Type​

The kind of outdoor activity something on MissionPeak is centered around — like General or Hiking. Activity type shapes Huddle features, recorded stats, and some Challenge goals. See About Activities.

Aurora​

Your AI-powered outdoor companion built into MissionPeak. Aurora answers questions, recommends activities, and helps with planning Huddles or drafting Inspirations. See About Aurora.

Carpool​

A Huddle feature that lets participants coordinate rides and share costs for getting to an event.

Community​

An ongoing group built around a shared interest, where members post updates, share Inspirations, and organize multiple Huddles over time. Communities can be Public, Protected (discoverable, but content limited to members), or Private (content limited to members, invite-only). See About Communities and Community Privacy Options.

Connection​

The relationship between you and another user — formed by following or being followed. Connections shape what appears in your Newsfeed. See About Connections.

Follower / Following​

A Follower is someone who follows you and sees your shareable posts, Huddles, and Inspirations. Following refers to the people you've chosen to follow, whose activity appears in your feed. See About Connections.

Huddle​

A single planned activity — like a Saturday hike or a one-time meetup — with its own date, location, privacy level, and participant list. Huddles can be Public, Unlisted (visible via link only), Connection-visible, Private (invite-only), or tied to a Community's privacy rules. See About Huddles and Huddle Privacy Options.

Inspiration​

A written article, story, or guide shared with the MissionPeak community — part storytelling, part resource-sharing, rooted in an outdoor or wellness journey. See About Inspirations and How to Write and Publish an Inspiration.

Message​

A conversation between MissionPeak users — either a direct message, a Huddle/Carpool coordination thread, or a topic-based discussion within a Community. See About Messages.

Newsfeed​

Your personalized activity stream, combining posts, Inspirations, and updates from the people you follow, the Communities you've joined, and the Huddles you're part of. See About Newsfeed.

Record​

The record of an activity you've recorded on MissionPeak — like a hike or a run — created either in the app or synced from a connected service like Apple Health or Google Health Connect. A Record can be shared to the Newsfeed as an Activity Card and can count toward Challenge progress. See About Records.

Sign-up Sheet​

A Huddle tool for building and coordinating tasks among participants — for example, dividing up what everyone brings to an event.

Trailblazer​

An active community member or outdoor influencer whose experiences, tips, and stories appear throughout MissionPeak to motivate and guide others.
