How to Join, Contribute and Compete in a Challenge

Challenges on MissionPeak let you set a goal, track your progress, and compete on a leaderboard — on your own or alongside a Community. This guide walks you through getting set up, joining a Challenge, and making sure your activities count toward it.

For an overview of how Challenges work, see About Challenges.

Step 1: Get the MissionPeak App

If you don't already have the app, download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Alternatively, visit missionpeak.app/get to choose your platform.

Once installed, sign up for a free account or log in if you already have one.

Step 2: Connect Apple Health or Google Health Connect

Before your activities can count toward a Challenge, connect the health service on your phone:

  1. Open Settings in the MissionPeak app.
  2. Go to Devices & Services.
  3. Enable integration with Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android).
  4. Grant the requested permissions when prompted.

MissionPeak uses synced health data — such as distance, elevation gain, steps, and calories burned — to calculate your Challenge progress automatically. MissionPeak can also export published activity records to Apple Health or Google Health Connect when connected. See About Devices & Services for the full data-access list.

tip

Set this up before your first workout so your activity syncs in from the start.

Step 3: Join a Challenge

If you have a Challenge link

  • Open the link on your phone (or tap it from a message or email).
  • Follow the prompts to Join the Challenge in the MissionPeak app.

If you don't have a link

  1. Open the MissionPeak app and log in.
  2. Go to the Outings tab.
  3. Browse available Challenges and tap the one that interests you.
  4. Tap Join.

You can also find Community-hosted Challenges from a Community's page. See About Challenges for the different Challenge types.

Step 4: Record Your Activity

Once you've joined, record your outdoor activities — hiking, running, biking, walking, and more — however you prefer:

  • Directly in the MissionPeak app
  • With any fitness app of your choice
  • With an Apple Watch or Google-compatible fitness watch

As long as your workout syncs to Apple Health or Google Health Connect, MissionPeak picks up the relevant stats and contributes them toward the Challenge automatically. You can keep using the apps and devices you already love while competing on MissionPeak.

See About Records for how activity recording works in the app.

Step 5: Track Your Progress

After a qualifying activity syncs:

  • Open the Challenge from Outings to see your updated progress.
  • Check the leaderboard to see how you compare with other participants.

Progress updates as new activity data arrives from your connected health service — it may take a short time after a workout finishes syncing on your phone.

You're Ready to Compete

That's it — join a Challenge, connect your health data, and get moving. Your stats will roll in automatically as long as Apple Health or Google Health Connect is enabled.
